Joseph M. Pepek, M.D.
Joseph M. Pepek, M.D. graduated with honors from Georgetown University before obtaining his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery at Naval Medical Center, in San Diego, California. Dr. Pepek then went on to serve as a Medical Officer for the U.S. Navy Seabees, and a Medical Officer for the U.S. Marine Corps Chemical Biological Incident Response Force. During his military service, Dr. Pepek received numerous honors including two Navy Commendation Medals, a Navy Achievement Medal, and an Iraq Campaign Medal. He completed a residency in radiation oncology at Duke University Medical Center, where he was named Chief Resident. Dr. Pepek has experience in the application of image-guided radiation therapy, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, and stereotactic body radiation therapy. He has presented his research findings on lung and gastrointestinal malignancies at national scientific meetings and has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles.
Dr. Pepek’s professional memberships include the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Radiation Oncology.
